Sex may be the cause of your headache

Do you feel headache after sex or worse and associate intimacy with your partner with a severe migraine? If so, you're not alone. According to a recent study conducted by the National Headache, 20 percent of women and five percent of men suffer from "headaches because of sex."

The condition, also known as "exertional headache" or "headache pre-orgasmic" may last a few minutes to half an hour that spreads throughout the period during or after sex. The pain can be built on both sides of the head and between the eyes and intensifies as intercourse progresses, the moment of climax being the sharpest.

Among the reasons attributed to this disease, there is excessive muscle tension produced by the body in preparation for release. It may also be associated with increased fluid and blood pressure during intercourse.

To prevent symptoms both men and women can ingest aspirin for migraine 30 minutes before sexual intercourse, sexual positions take less demanding and more passive or decrease the amount of times you have privacy during the week. If pain persists or is out of control is recommended that you visit your doctor to explore new options
